Let the Pictures Tell the Story
I'm resisting the temptation to do "before and after" pictures in this mini-series about the gardening here at 173. Rather, this series is about what IS here! So, without further ado, here are some pictures straight out of the 173 front yard - 2018 edition:
We identify the flag with almost everything we hold dear on earth, peace, security, liberty, our family, our friends, our home. … But when we look at our flag and behold it emblazoned with all our rights we must remember that it is equally a symbol of our duties. Every glory that we associate with it is the result of duty done. - President Calvin Coolidge
Standing as I do, with my hand upon this staff, and under the folds of the American flag, I ask you to stand by me so long as I stand by it. - Abraham Lincoln
The hollies are an homage to my grandmother who had hollies in her front yard in Mountour Falls!
I don't remember this line in A Christmas Carol but Scrooge really was a Scrooge!
If I could work my will, said Scrooge indignantly, every idiot who goes about with 'Merry Christmas' on his lips, should be boiled with his own pudding, and buried with a stake of holly through his heart. He should! - Charles Dickens
There's a little trip around the front yard. It's a little deceiving because one whole side of the front yard isn't represented because it'll be including in the next post - the corner beds!
