2018 Summer in Bloom at 173!: A Mini-Series

Study of an Urban Garden

While 173 rests on a rather small city plot, the gardens make it feel like anything but small.  In 2015 I had (for the first time) the presence of mind to write about and show some of the flowers and other vegetation in a post.  Then in 2016, I posted an impressionist collection of some of the flowers and plants here at 173.  Somehow, although I took dozens of pictures, I neglected to post any of those beauties.  But not this year!  This is the initial offering of a short series about the plantings here at 173.  A short series because there's so much I want to show, but I'm a bit limited on the talent necessary to present the whole picture in one post.  Instead, I'll post each yard - one at a time.  I hope you'll enjoy the pictures at least a bit as much as I enjoy the flowers here at 173!  The posts will include:

The front yard

The corner beds...

God made a beatous garden
With lovely flowers strown,
But one straight, narrow pathway
That was not overgrown.
And to this beauteous garden
He brought mankind to live,
And said: "To you, my children,
These lovely flowers I give.
Prune ye my vines and fig trees,
With care my flowerets tend,
But keep the pathway open
Your home is at the end."

- Robert Frost - God's Garden

The back yard...

And the shade garden:

This will be a fun series, mostly focused on flowers, and the beauty we find in our tiny plot at 173!
